Memories of A Message Board

I am in a nostalgic mood today, and I feel like sharing a little story:

Once upon a time, there was a great message board where friends can chill and relax to talk about their favorite TV show at the time, "The Powerpuff Girls."

That message board was known as PpGWorld.Com.

It was a beautiful place where people talk about a show that was HUGE back then when the New Milenium apporached. The board has several different sections, fan art, episode discussions, fan fics where "Round Robin" fics where king, and a lot of magic happened there. There was even a section dedicated for discussions about other shows and cartoons! man, it was paradise to talk about anything related to PpG.

Everything went smoothly, until sometime in 2004-the site and the boards were falling appart.

The main site was starting to mess up, the owners forgot to renew payments for the domain and web hosting, and then, the message boards were in decline, same with the decline in popularity with PpG, many members jumpped ship, so did I, when i discovered deviantART back in early 2003. There were many attempts to revive PpGWorld to its former glory, but it was for vain, as the site vanished, never to be seen again.

All was not lost, some of the friends I met, as well as some from another defunct PpG site, Powerpuff.Com and its message board GirlTalk, had deviantART accounts. I added them to my watch, even before GT went belly up sometime in 2006-2008. And with the magic of Facebook, I reconnected with these friends after years of being away, and it was sweet.

These friends are a motley crew and whose friendships I treasure the most:

  1. Becca/Spitfire-You're one of the nicest women I've ever known. You and I have strong opinions that you and I share. And your art is very awesome indeed, if its either PpG or Transformers, your art is still rockin'!
  2. David/SailorGoon43-My oldest friend, you and I share the same opinions, and we have our own differences, but that doesn't stop us for being friends. We both share an unfortinate trait-having Diabetes, but my brother, we will prevail over these obsticles. I just wish that ol' PuffUncle/Chris was on FB, I miss him.
  3. Christina/Secondteen13-You have exciting posts to contribute at PpGWorld, and I didn't know you loke film and television logos, i do too! Glad you have a DA, kiddo! We should talk more.
  4. Marcos-My friend, you have such amazing art at PpGWorld when it was still active. I'm glad you share your wonderful art at DA, that way, we don't lose contact with one another. Keep up the good work.
  5. Erin/Falco No Miko-A fellow Texan/comic geek. Your posts over there brighten up my day and amused me. you and I have some things in common during those days. Hard to believe that after the boards went belly up, that we went from AIM RPers to hard-working college folk that are comic geeks while shooting for the stars for our goals. I hope that you reach your goal and the same for me for my cartooning career. Good luck at UH, go Cougars.
  6. John/Ryuuseipro-Although you hang out more at GT than PpGWorld, you're still part of my memories overthere. You have very interesting topics to posts, our posts were funny, yet informative, and your art was amazing. As one aspiring cartoonist to another, I'm glad that those boards introduced us to each other, and it carried on to DA and here.

These people I've met over there are very incredible people. I'm still amazed that with the avent of social networking, we reconnected in some way. PpGWorld.Com may have been gone for good now, but the memories will live on, and I will treasure the memories for all time. This is all coming from the heart.

PpGWorld.Com Message Boards-Gone, but not forgotten.

First Entry

Hello everyone,

You may know me from deviantART, I'm Urvy from that said site. And I'm here for the first time at Blogger. Here, I present my creations from the world I created known as the UrvyVerse. What is the UrvyVerse, you ask? It's a universe, like ours, only populated with certain people with superpowers they gained either by accident, experimentation, or at birth. There's also people without superpowers as well. Some of these people use their powers for good, others for evil.

The UrvyVerse Concept is an action-comedy world that mixes action with humor. The influences of this universe were the classic DC Comics cartoons made by Filmation in the 1960's, as well as the golden and silver ages of comic books. This universe is growing, and there's no stopping this universe! In this blog, I'll discuss the UrvyVerse, as well as other subjects beyond.

From rants and raves to reviews and such, this blog will express my feelings and ramblings. Also, I can put exclusive pictures here to this blog. So sit back, relax, enjoy, grab yourself a cold one, and read on!
